This is a review of Hemorrhoids which is produced by Hyland’s. This product claims to support your body’s natural response to healing the pain that results from the symptoms of hemorrhoids.

Basic Information: What is ‘Hemorrhoids’

Hyland’s Hemorrhoids are tablets which claim to relieve you of the symptoms of pain and irritation caused by hemorrhoids.

Directions

Let two or three tablets dissolve under your tongue every four hours or as needed.

In children aged 6 to 12 years, give them half of the adult dose.

Formula

There are four listed active ingredients in Hyland’s Hemorrhoids:

  • Aesulus Hippocastanum 3X HPUS
  • Ratanhia 3X HPUS –
  • Nux Vomic 3X HPUS
  • Calcarea Fluorica 6X HPUS

Aesulus Hippocastanum, otherwise known as horse chestnut, claims to relieve soreness, irritation and soften stools. Some forms of horse chestnut contain poison which may be fatal if ingested.

Ratanhia is an uncommon plant that is sometimes used for intestinal swelling. It is mostly used as a moth wash. It contains tannins, which are astringent chemicals which can reduce inflammation.

Nux Vomic claims to provide relief from burning and swelling, however there is insufficient evidence that it is effective. Nux Vomic is considered unsafe. Amounts of 30 mg or more can result in severe side effects like anxiety, dizziness, convulsions, liver failure and death.

Calcarea Fluorica claims to provide relief from irritation and relief from bleeding piles and fissures

The only inactive ingredient is Lactose.

Price

Hyland’s does not provide a price for their product Hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids can be purchased from health stores like Walgreens and Whole Foods.

What to Expect

It is difficult to know what to expect from Hemorrhoids. Hyland’s does not provide a timeline for relief using their product.

Hemorrhoids is not safe for long term use because of the ingredient Nux Vomic, which is considered to be unsafe to use in both adults and children.

Keep an Eye Out

Hemorrhoids claims to be safe for use in children and is best used in conjunction with another Hyland’s product called Hemmorex Ointment. No one is recommended to take Nux Vomic – those especially at risk to the toxic side effects are those who are pregnant and those with liver disease. Nux Vomic can make liver disease worse. If you feel any the following side effects you must phone your doctor immediately: anxiety, dizziness, neck and back stiffness, spasms of jaw and neck muscles, convulsions, seizures, breathing problems. The most severe side effects include liver and failure and death.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before taking this product.

Consult your doctor if you have a dairy allergy, as this product contains lactose.

Manufacturer’s Commitment

The manufacturer has a 24/7 hotline available for consumers in case of emergency. Hemorrhoids has not been evaluated by the FDA. Hyland’s does not provide any reviews for the product nor do they offer any guarantee.

The Bottom Line

The use of the ingredient Nux Vomic might make this product unsafe to use for anyone who is pregnant or suffers from liver disease. In doses of 30 mg Nux Vomic is toxic and may result in death. Moreover, it is not safe for consumers with milk allergies. Hyland’s does not provide a timeline of when you might expect relief from their product nor do they provide a price or how many doses are available in each pack. Hyland’s do not list any benefits of their product Hemorrhoids on their website.
